A stroll down memory lane…

This past weekend was bleak- I stayed indoors and the gloomy weather just dampened the mood. With nothing to do, I thought it be a good idea to have a look at my now dusty shoe box in which I kept all my dearest items (not quite hoarding though, just souvenirs). Boy oh boy was that interesting! First out of the weathered Chuck Taylor box was a sheet with the lyrics to Britney Spears’ “hit me baby one more time”, a  pair of hideous sock (I have no clue why!!!). Then I stumbled upon something phenomenal… a video cassette of the best movie of all time; PULP FICTION!!! Wow, totally mesmerized I was.
First of all, this was something my parents would devour me for having, but really, this one was a keeper. I think it was probably the first platform where I learnt some nasty words (I was a rather impressionably curious child). Luckily the video cassette player is still in good shape- thanks to my mother’s OCD tendencies, so I popped it in and there they were, my bad heroes; Samuel L Jackson in what now looks like an extremely wet perm, John Travolta in super tight trousers, and Uma Thurman… gorgeous as ever.
My weekend wasn’t so bad after all. Thanks to the impromptu appeasement from reviewing my treasure chest, and Quentin Tarantino*

My Mojo

Every day when I return home from school, a walk or anywhere that I might have been, I am greeted with great energy and joy from my friend Mojo. He is a new addition to the family with special needs that I enjoy catering to. Although at times we engage in a tug of war over MY towels which HE thinks he can rip apart. Prior to getting this ball of energy, I was terrified of dogs and could never imagine owning one, but now, I appreciate these cute and cuddly beasts.

This black and white snap shot of Mojo was inspired by a timeless feel of imagery which may still look relevant in a few years’ time. I took the picture during midday as the sun was overhead and brought great light onto the object. The focus was on the object and not the background, thus I chose to use medium speed and medium aperture for the still image.
